The Bonn Capitals and the Borgerhout Squirrels will play the final of the 2018 CEB Cup in Ostrava, Czech Republic. The Squirrels used a complete game effort by former Major Leaguer Romulo Sanchez to beat the Senart Templiers 6-4. Sanchez struck out 12 and reached the finish line after 145 pitches. Robert Palencia got charged with the loss. Tim Veraghtert homered for Borgerhout, Raudelin Legra Perez for Senart.
Bonn meanwhile beat host Arrows Ostrava 7-3. Markus Solbach threw eight strong innings to keep the Ostrava offense in check besides a two-run home run by Michael Vykoukal. The right-hander struck out ten, allowing just two runs on six hits and a walk. Kevin van Meensel had two crucial hits and drove in three for Bonn. Maurice Wilhelm went deep for the Capitals. Ondrej Satoria took the loss. Terrell Joyce hit a solo home run in the ninth, his fifth in the tournament.
In the other games the Therwil Flyers beat up Olimpija Karlovac 12-1, scoring seven runs in the last two frames. With the win they will finish in a tie for fifth place and secured the Swiss spot in the CEB Cup. BC Minsk saw Denis Leonov throwing a complete game to prevail 6-4 over Biotechkomanda KNTU. KNTU and Karlovac now will play against relegation on Saturday.
