CEB announces Organizers for 2016 Competitions



During its executive meeting in Barcelona on November 7, the Confederation of European Baseball (CEB) has awarded the hosts of the 2016 competitions.  Rimini, Rouen/Chartres, Brno, London, Borgerhout and Sant Boi are chosen as organizers of the club competitions. Rimini still needs to fulfill a requirement to be confirmed as host. National team competitions were awarded to Trebic, Huenenberg/Lucerne, Chartres/Rouen, Gijon and Tel Aviv. It was already announced that Hoofddorp will host the Senior European Championship. Organizers for the C-Level European Championships are still yet to be determined.

European Cups 2016

After the decision to restructure the Club competitions starting in 2016 and the 2015 tournaments played as qualifiers for the new system, the 2016 European Cups will be played as follows.

European Champions Cup awarded to Rimini, Italy (conditionally)
Playing dates: May 31/June 1 – June 4/5
Qualified Teams: Italy (2x), Netherlands (2x), Germany (2x), Czech Republic (1x), San Marino (1x).

CEB Cup awarded to Rouen/Chartres, France
Playing dates: May 31/June 1 – June 4/5
Qualified Teams: France (2x), Croatia (2x), Austria (1x), Belarus (1x), Switzerland (1x), Ukraine (1x).

Federations Cup awarded to Brno, Czech Republic
Playing dates: June 20/21 – 25/26
Qualified Teams: Belgium (1x), Bulgaria (1x), Czech Republic (1x), Russia (1x), Slovakia (1x), Sweden (1x)

Federations Cup Qualifier
Awarded to London, Great Britain / Borgerhout, Belgium / Sant Boi, Spain
Playing dates: June 20/21 – 25/26
Qualified Teams: (max. 18, 3 groups of 6)
– Runner up of the Federations that have one representative in Champions Cup, CEB Cup and Federations Cup
– Champions of all other Federations, who are not participating in Champions Cup, CEB Cup and Federations Cup
– Runner up of the best ranked Federations who are not participating in Champions Cup, CEB Cup and Federations Cup.

European Championships 2016

U12 (Juveniles) awarded to Trebic, Czech Republic
Playing dates: July 4 – 9/10
Open for subscriptions.
Tournament is Qualification tournament for the World Championship 2017.

U15 Qualifier (Cadets) awarded to Huenenberg/Lucerne, Switzerland
Playing dates: July 18 – 23/24
Open for subscriptions.

U15 (Cadets) awarded to Chartres/Rouen, France
Playing dates: July 18 – 23
Qualified teams: Germany, Czech Republic, Ukraine, Austria, Lithuania, Russia, France, Slovenia.

U18 (Juniors) awarded to Gijon, Spain
Playing dates: July 11 – 17
Qualified teams: Italy, Netherlands, Czech Republic,, France, Germany, Russia, Spain, Croatia, Sweden, Great Britain.
Tournament is Qualification tournament for the World Championship 2017.

U21 awarded to Tel Aviv, Israel
Playing dates: August 1 – 6/7
Open for subscriptions – Tournament is not a qualifying tournament, the
Qualification tournment for the World Championship will be in 2017.

Seniors C-Pool TBD
Playing dates: July 25 – 31
Open for subscriptions.

Seniors A-Pool, Hoofddorp, Netherlands
Playing dates: September 9 – 18
Qualified Teams: Netherlands, Italy, Spain, Czech Republic, Germany, France, Belgium, Russia, Great Britain, Greece, Sweden, Croatia
