The Catania Warriors continue to strengthen their roster one month before the start of the 2010 Italian Baseball League season. They have signed William Lucena and Leonardo D’Amico.
The 29-year-old right-hander Lucena came to Italy in 2000, joining Modena in the Serie A. The past two seasons he played for T&A San Marino, winning the championship in 2008. Overall he has an ERA of 4.88 in 168 IBL games, striking out 450 batters (329 walks) in 612 1/3 innings.
D’Amico is a 28-year-old right-hander, who already pitched for Paternò in the IBL during the 2005 season. In 2006 and 2008 he played for Telemarket Rimini and Montepaschi Grosseto. He has an ERA of 3.65 in 50 IBL games, striking out 101 batters (62 walks) in 138 innings. His brother Yovany D’Amico is still playing for Grosseto.
