Veteran catcher Carlos Ruiz of the Philadelphia Phillies is going to leave Spring Training to join Panama for the World Baseball Classic Qualifier at Rod Carew Stadium in Panama City in March. The 37-year-old World Series winner from 2008 will compete with his home country against Colombia, France and Spain from March 17 to 20. In 2009 he skipped the World Baseball Classic, but now would like to have one last chance to represent his country. According to a newspaper report he will be accompanied by fellow Major Leaguers Randall Delgado and Christian Bethancourt.
