Capitols replace Catcher Joel Rodriguez with Jon Marshall

Posted on March 21, 2008March 21, 2008 by philipp

Jonathan MARSHALL is the new catcher for the Bonn Capitols. He will replace Joel RODRIGUEZ, who was behind the plate in 2007. MARSHALL arrived in Germany this week.

He was born on May 13th 1981 in Marshall, Texas. He went to the McLennan Community College, the Texan Christian University and the Centenary College. In 2004 and 2005 he got playing time in the Big West Tournament of the NCAA, batting .270 (OBP .349/SLG .324) in his second year. He also began to play for independent league clubs in 2004. Until last season he was on the roster for six different teams in the Central, Golden, Frontier and United League. Over the course of four seasons he has a combined batting average of .173 (.261/.211) with 21 runs scored and 24 RBI in 84 games.

It is going to be hard for MARSHALL to replace the production of RODRIGUEZ in the Capitols lineup. He batted .344 (.474/.361) with 17 runs scored and 17 RBI in 18 games for Bonn last year. The team is travelling to Dortmund this weekend to participate in a preseason tournament with other Bundesliga clubs.
