In the previous four editions, any foreign team had won the pre-sason tournament organized by Senago Milan United. In the finals, the Reds took the victory beating 11-7 the Senago Milan United
For the first time since it has been launched, the “Gigi Cameroni Trophy” flow abroad. The Reds from Stuttgart won the fifth edition of the classic tournament – held before the opening of the Italian baseball season – dedicated to the memory of a man who for 50 years has been the flag of Milan baseball.
The German team, after beating the Old Rags from Lodi in the semifinals (8-7), also prevailed in the finals over the United that was unbeaten since the last two editions. Reds won 11-7 due to a greater display of power hitting, while Milan suffered the absence of 3 important players with Cabrera, Wong and Drago.
Bret Helenius, Stuttgart head coach, has already confirm the Reds will definitely return next year to Milan for defending the trophy. “We are very honored to be able to hold it for a year”– Helenius said to the United executives – “and we will treat it with the respect that Mr. Cameroni deserves”.
Reds signed their name as winner of the “Gigi Cameroni Trophy” after Juve Turin (2007), Novara (2008) and Senago Milan United in 2009 and 2010.
