Ivan Terrazas went three-for-five with a homerun, two runs scored and three RBI to lead Mexico to a 6-3 victory against Italy. They took a fast 2-0 lead against a wild Italian starter Marco Grifantini. But the Azzurri came back to tie the contest with a sac fly by Joseph Mazzuca in the sixth. It only lasted for a few minutes, as Terrazas put Mexico back ahead with a two-run shot in the bottom of the frame. Two more runs in the eighth sealed the win in the end. Arturo Lopez picked up the win in relief, Luca Panerati took the loss. Jairo Ramos homered for Italy.
