The Dutch team improved to 2-0 in the Baseball World Cup Pool F, defeating Puerto Rico 5-2. They took the 1-0 lead in the second on a RBI double by Hainley Statia. Three runs in the fifth made it 4-0 to a pair of RBIs by Curt Smith and Sharlon Schoop and a wild pitch. Eugene Kingsale drove in another run in the sixth.

Puerto Rico only was able to fill the scoreboard in the top of the ninth on a RBI single by Alex Cintron and a bases loaded walk by Jose Valentin. They even threatened to do more damage, but Luis Matos‘ line drive with three men on, found the glove of center fielder Danny Rombley.

Rob Cordemans (W 1-0) issued just four hits and a walk in five scoreless innings. He struck out five. Alex Wodson took the loss, surrendering eight hits, four runs (3 ER) and two bb in 4 2/3 innings.
