After South Korea had tied the contest at 1-1 with a RBI double by Young-Hun Cho in the fourth, Puerto Rico regained the lead immediately on a two-run double by former big leaguer Alex Cintron. The reigning Olympic champion only could cut the deficit to a run in the eighth and lost 2-3 in the end.
Mario Santiago picked up the win with seven solid innings. He allowed five hits, one unearned run and two walks, while striking out five. Seung-Lak Son issued five hits, three runs and three bb in 5 1/3 innings to take the loss. Puerto Rico is 2-1 in the second round, while South Korea only has one win in three games.
