Roger Luque pitched seven strong innings to lead Venezuela to a 6-1 victory against Great Britain. It was the third win for the team of Jose Lobaton in round two and they will advance to round three, as South Korea beat Spain 2-1 at the same time. Both teams now are tied with 3-4 records, but Venezuela won the duel between the two. Nicaragua also lost the matchup with Venezuela, as they also can improve to 3-4 with a victory against Puerto Rico.

Luque allowed just four hits and two walks in seven innings, while striking out six. They scored the first run in the first, profiting from the wildness of British starter Thomas Stack-Babich (L, 0.2 IP, 0 H, 1 ER, 3 BB). They doubled the gap in the fourth with a sac fly by Yosnel Garcia. Again three frames later, they added four more runs to blow things wide open, highlighted by a two-run double of Michael Sandoval.
