Puerto Rico clinched a spot in the third round with a 5-3 win over Venezuela on Saturday in Haarlem. Miguel Abreu went two-for-four with three RBI. Ruben Gotay and Orlando Mercado scored four of the five runs. Lino Connell collected two RBI for Venezuela. Luis Atilano gave up two runs on six hits in 6 1/3 innings for the win. Jacobo Sequera took the loss after 3 2/3 innings, five hits, three runs and three bb.
