Greece did a good job against Japan, but still had to settle for a 4-9 loss on Sunday afternoon in Aguadulce. The Greek team had an early 2-1 lead after two innings, but the Asian baseball powerhouse tied the contest in the fourth and broke the tie in the sixth. Five runs in the last two frames blew things wide open. Panagiotis Sikaras took the loss, allowing nine hits, six runs (4 ER) and two walks in 7 1/3 strong innings. Jason Zachos hit a homerun and drove in three for Greece. Stefan Giannakopoulos collected three hits.
