Max Kepler-Rozycki and Donald Lutz hit homeruns and combined for five RBI in a 6-9 loss of Germany to Australia. The team from Down Under scored all nine runs in the first three innings, seven against an unlucky starter Martin Dewald. They couldn’t do much against the bullpen of Rodney Gessmann and Max Schmitz. But with their relief corps keeping Germany’s offense in check, the much needed win for Australia was in the books. With the defeat Germany closes out the 2011 IBAF Baseball World Cup with a 0-7 record, good for eighth place in the tough Group 2.
