BWC 3rd Round Standings after 9/23



Defending champion Team USA is the first participant of the championship game on Sunday, September 27th in Nettuno. They beat Puerto Rico today thanks to three homeruns by Ike Davis, Buck Coats and Jon Weber. Their most likely opponent in the title match will be Cuba, which shut out Taiwan on Wednesday. Alfredo Despaigne hit two more homeruns and is now tied with Justin Smoak in the lead. Both teams will play against each other in a highly anticipated duel also in Nettuno. The Netherlands hit a speed bump today, losing 2-5 against Luke Hughes (2 HR, 4 RBI) and Australia, dropping to 3-2 in the Pool F standings. In the fourth match on Wednesday, Canada crushed Venezuela 9-2.
