After claiming a pair of walk-off victories the Buchbinder Legionaere Regensburg are leading the German Baseball-Bundesliga finals 2-0. On Saturday Ludwig Glaser scored the game winner in the bottom of the tenth on a flyball by Chris Zirzlmeier to lead Regensburg to a 4-3 win. Heidenheim had erased a 1-3 deficit in the process. Pascal Amon hit a two-run home run for the Buchbinder Legionaere.
On Sunday Glaser once again crossed the plate for the winning run. This time Chris Howard drove him in in with a RBI single in the bottom of the ninth to seal a 5-4 win. The walk-off hit capped a three-run rally by Regensburg against Tyler Lockwood after the Heidekoepfe led 4-2 entering the bottom half of the last frame. Aaron Dunsmore had given them the lead with a three-run shot. Kai Gronauer tied the game with a RBI double just moments before Howard’s big hit.
Attendance at the Armin-Wolf-Arena in Regensburg was 1,435 on Saturday and 1,683 on Sunday. Game three will be played under the lights on Friday, September 25 in Heidenheim. A game four would take place on Saturday with game five being back in Regensburg on October 3. All five games will be broadcasted by Legionaere TV via www.sportdeutschland.tv/baseball.
