The Buchbinder Legionaere Regensburg have won the race for German national team pitcher Dominik Hartinger. After his previous club Gauting Indians withdrew from upper level baseball in Germany, it was only a question where the right-hander is going to end up. The Haar Disciples were favored in the beginning, but the defending champion had more to offer in the end.
The 29-year-old Hartinger went 2-7 with an ERA of 6.49 in 14 games last season. He struck out 63 batters in 77 2/3 innings, walking 35. He also played for Germany at the IBAF Baseball World Cup in Panama last October. He effectively replaces Czech right-hander Boris Bokaj on the Regensburg pitching staff, who tries to find a spot with Danesi Nettuno in the Italian Baseball League.
The Buchbinder Legionaere also announced that outfielder Eric Harms has joined the team for the upcoming season in the Baseball-Bundesliga. The 18-year-old German is a member of the German Junior National Team. He batted .243/.378/.297 with seven runs and four RBI in 15 games for the HSV Stealers in 2011. He had joined the German army and moved to Regensburg.
