The British Baseball Federation (BBF) is pleased to announce it will offer five scholarships to University Coaches to attend for free the Coach Summit 2017 in Birmingham. The BBF University Baseball Coaches Scholarship Scheme programme is designed to assist University baseball coaches who plan to continue their development in coaching.
The spokesman for the University Baseball, Dr. Luke Stott said “Coach summits are the backbone of any world-class coach education programme. It is my overwhelming belief that our sport will only grow as we increase the number and proficiency of our coaching fraternity. These hard-working volunteers are not only coaches but so much more than that; they are ambassadors of our sport to a whole new generation; be they in higher education, school, work, or beyond. In the Higher Education system there are dozens of students who aspire to enter the teaching profession, and for whom coaching qualifications, experience, and knowledge are a vital method of separating themselves from other applicants. To this end, I am excited about the BBF’s Scholarship scheme to reward these aspiring coaches and physical educators with free tickets to this year’s BSUK Coach Summit.”
The Coach Summit 2017 in Birmingham brings over internationally recognised coaches in baseball. Speakers include Pat Doyle (Former Major League Baseball Consultant & Co-ordinator of the MLB Envoy Coach Programme) and Dave Turgeon (Instruction Coordinator for the Pittsburgh Pirates).
Gerry Perez, president of the BBF, said “There are baseball teams from various universities throughout our country playing our sport. Our board recognises the strategic importance of working more closely with university baseball teams, and these scholarships are just the start of the direction we intend to take to develop our Federation and sport.”
The Summit is on the 28 Jan and starts at 10:00. For more information about the Summit click here.
