The Brisbane Bandits opened the first December game day in the Australian Baseball League with an 8-1 victory over the Perth Heat. Seven runs in the top of the third sealed the deal early. Shuhei Fukuda already had put them in front with a leadoff homerun. Joshua Roberts cleared the bases with a double during the big rally. Hiroki Yamada (W 1-1) picked up the win with seven solid innings, striking out eight. Liam Hendriks (L 0-2) took the loss. The second planned matchup on Thursday between Canberra Cavalry and Adelaide Bite was postponed due to rain. It will be made up on Friday as part of a doubleheader.
