Brent Buffa, Ben Pearson return to HSV Stealers

Posted on March 12, 2013March 12, 2013 by philipp

The HSV Stealers announced that Brent Buffa (27) and Ben Pearson (21) return to the club for the 2013 season. Buffa came to Hamburg last year and after overcoming a nagging shoulder injury formed a strong 1-2 pitcher duo with the departed Antonio Peraza, leading the HSV into the Baseball-Bundesliga playoffs. The American with Italian passport had a 5-1 record with an ERA of 3.88 in 58 innings last season.

Additionally British national team outfielder/pitcher Pearson is coming back. He already played a couple of games for the club in 2011. Since then he went to college in Canada and was the starting pitcher for Team Great Britain in their 6-2 victory over Russia at the 2012 European Championship. He wasn’t on the roster for the WBC Qualifier in Regensburg.

Earlier this winter the Stealers had revealed that Michael Franke and Henry Guillermo join the team for the upcoming season. Catcher Eric Krysiak is coming back as well. Only Antonio Peraza and Craig Pycock have been announced as departures.
