Breaking News: CEB cancels all 2020 Competitions

Posted on May 10, 2020 by philipp

The executive board of the Confederation of European Baseball (CEB) on Sunday cancelled all 2020 competitions due to the spread of the Coronavirus in Europe. Still on the schedule were the U18 European Championship, the B- and C-Pool European Championships, and qualifiers for next year’s U15 and U23 European Championships.

The European Champions Cup, CEB Cup, Federation Cup and Federation Cup Qualifiers, as well as the U12 European Championship and Qualifier were already cancelled a couple of weeks ago. Originally the U18 Euros as well as the qualifiers for next year’s Senior European Championship had been only postponed to September/October.

National baseball competitions in Europe are currently still on hold. Only in the Czech Republic a season start is scheduled for May 22 and in Italy the federation hopes for a start in mid June or mid July. In other countries the season is either already cancelled (France) or postponed indefinitely. However practices are allowed to start with certain restrictions (keeping a distance between athletes, only small groups permitted) in various countries.
