After winning nine straight games last week, the ORKAS now wait for a victory since beating PHILADELPHIA on Tuesday. On Saturday, the BRAVOS overcame a 1-3-deficit through five runs in the eighth and beat the BBC 6-4.
The BRAVOS scored once and loaded the bases with one out against reliever Wilmer Alvarez, who was in for his second inning of work. Steven Van Groningen (L 2-1) replaced him, but gave up a hit and a walk for two runs, before leaving without managing an out. Jose Marcano also didn’t fare better, as his three inherited runners all scored on two more hits. The fourth pitcher in the frame, Shane Gnade, finally stopped the bleeding and got the remaining two outs in the eighth. He also pitched a scoreless ninth to lower his ERA for the year to 1.80.
Emilio Linarez hit a solo homerun and drove in a total of two runs for the ORKAS. Gerson Manzanillo went three for five with a double and a RBI. Gabriel Montero doubled in a run. Daniel Bittar had a double in three at bats. Bryon Bell struck out in all of his four trips to the plate. Starting pitcher Yulman Ribeiro was solid in six innings. He conceded four hits, a run and two walks, while striking out four.
