Brad Lincoln added to World Cup team

Lincoln replaces called-up teammate Daniel McCutchen

DURHAM, N.C. – USA Baseball has added RHP Brad Lincoln of the Triple-A Indianapolis Indians (Pittsburgh Pirates) to the 2009 World Cup Team. Lincoln replaces Indianapolis teammate RHP Daniel McCutchen who has been called-up to the Pirates.

Earlier this week USA Baseball announced the 24 players who will represent the United States at the 2009 International Baseball Federation (IBAF) Baseball World Cup in Europe from Sept. 9-27. Players eligible for selection were those not currently on 25-man Major League Baseball rosters. The 2009 World Cup is the 38th installment of the IBAF’s biennial world championships.

At the Triple-A level, Lincoln has a 6-2 record with a 4.70 ERA and 42 strikeouts in 61.1 innings pitched. In his last four starts he is 4-0, and he has not given up a run in his last two outings (span of 11 innings). Earlier this year in Double-A Altoona, Lincoln had compiled a 1-5 mark with a 2.28 ERA and 65 strikeouts in 75 innings pitched. The strong first-half performance earned him a spot on the Team USA roster at the 2009 XM All-Star Futures Game in St. Louis.
