Israel has won the B-Pool European Championship in Blagoevgrad, Bulgaria. On Saturday they beat Russia 5-3 in the final. Israel scored three runs in the bottom of the eighth to turn a 2-3 deficit into the lead. Russia wasn’t able to answer. Rob Paller and Simon Rosenbaum hit home runs for Israel. Jonathan Demarte struck out three in three scoreless innings of relief for the win.
By winning the B-Pool European Championship in Blagoevgrad Israel qualified for a Playoff Series at the end of July, where they will face the winner of the B-Pool European Championship in Trnava. The winner of the playoff series goes to the European Championship in Bonn and Solingen in September.
