Right-handed pitcher Mike Bolsenbroek made his debut in the Gulf Coast League on Monday. He pitched two innings in relief in a doubleheader against the GCL Yankees, allowing just three walks, while striking out two. The 21-year-old was selected by the Philadelphia Phillies organization in the MLB amateur draft in June and signed with them in July.
After completing the regular season with the German Baseball-Bundesliga club Buchbinder Legionaere Regensburg, Bolsenbroek was assigned to the Phillies affiliate of the Rookie league. In Germany he had a 4-0 record with two saves in 13 games (6 starts), posting a 1.59 ERA. He had 61 strikeouts (29 walks) in 56.2 innings pitched. Opponents hit a league low .138 against him.
