UGF Fortitudo Bologna
The reigning European Champions Cup winner UGF Fortitudo Bologna was about to look into signing the 29-year-old Californian Aharon Eggleston to take over in center field according to a report by Baseball.it. However the Winnipeg Goldeyes announced on Thursday that he will return for a second consecutive season with the independent league club, which is joining the American Association after 16 years in the northern league. Fortitudo had more luck with Mattia Barbaresi. The 21-year-old had an ERA of 5.23 in six games last season for Telemarket Rimini. He will mainly be used with the IBL2 team Castenaso, but could get his fair amount of appearances in the IBL with Bologna too.
North East Knights
The Godo-Verona North East Knights have signed the 31-year-old outfielder/first baseman Terrence McClain. He spent his entire career in the independent league circuit after having attended Trevecca Nazarene University in Nashville, Tennessee. In 2010 he played for the Victoria Seals in the Golden League, batting .330/.387/.528 with a career high 14 homeruns, 63 runs and 63 RBI in 85 games. He not only showed some power, but also some speed on the bases with 19 stolen bases.
