Russia – Slovakia 7-3
Russia got its third win in as many games on Wednesday at the B-Level European Championship in Vienna, Austria. They defeated Slovakia 7-3. It was not an easy victory, as Russia tied the game in the bottom of the sixth, got the lead on a RBI single by Aleksandr Maksiakov in the seventh. Three runs in the eighth added some insurance. Viacheslav Vasilyev had two more RBI. Pavel Talakin got the win, throwing 5 2/3 innings of brilliant relief. Jan Kuzma took the loss.
Lithuania – Ireland 10-0 (7)
Lithuania scored five fast runs en route to a 10-0 shutout over Ireland in the afternoon game in Vienna. Edvards Matusevicius threw a complete game, allowing just seven hits and a walk, while striking out 12. Audrius Belikauskas and Klaidas Stravinskas has two RBI apiece in the victory. Brendan Scott took the loss, surrendering six hits, eight runs and five walks in four-plus innings.
Austria – Belarus 10-0 (7)
Austria also remains on track at the B-Level Euros. In the evening they defeated Belarus 10-0 in seven innings. Their big test will come on Thursday with a matchup against the also undefeated Russian squad. Michael Schneider went the distance, keeping Belarus to two hits in seven scoreless frames. At the plate Dominik Loeffler, Ferdinand Obed and Moritz Hackl scored two runs each. Aliaksandr Huryn took the loss.
