Bern Cardinals and Zurich Challengers headline Game Day in Switzerland

Cardinals and Challengers headline weekend action
The Bern Cardinals(13-0) play host to the Zurich Challengers(5-7) Saturday at the Allmend in Bern. The Challengers, off to a disappointing start to the season, will look to turn things around, at the same time ruining the perfect start for the Cards. The Cardinals last week set the club record for consecutive wins to start the season, and would love the streak to continue. The Challengers heavy hitting offense must slug their way to victory if they are to have any chance. The Cards are leading the league in runs scored per game, and runs allowed per game, and this is a bad recipe for the rest of the league. The home is playing their last double header before travelling to Attnang, Austria for the Euro Cup Qualifier tourney.

‘Bows look to remain in playoff picture after the Flyers come to town
The Embrach ‘Bows (5-7), who are currently tied for fifth place with the Challengers welcome the Therwil Flyers (8-4) to Embrach. The Flyers, last year’s regular season champs at 18-2, have found some chinks in their armor after a slow start. Sitting in third place, the Flyers will hope to improve their playoff position by sweeping the ‘Bows at home. On paper, this should happen, but the much improved ‘Bows fought hard, and nearly defeated the Cardinals last week. If the ‘Bows can learn how to win, they have a shot against anyone. With every loss taking the Embrach team further away from the playoffs, wins are at a premium!

Last place Eagles travel to Lausanne to take on the Indians
The second place Lausanne Indians(9-4) should have an easy time of it this weekend as the Eagles(1-11) come to Lausanne. Out of the four losses for the Indians, only one of them was against someone other than the Cardinals. They have beat up on the rest of the league in most part because of the leagues most dangerous lineup. On the mound, Nic Jaquemet has been a surprise this season, doing more than keeping his team in games. The Eagles have, and probably will continue to struggle at the plate, and their only hope is that the Indian hitters all have an off day!
