Belgian Series between Hoboken Pioneers and K. Deurne Spartans begins

Posted on October 1, 2010 by philipp

It took only one season for the promoted K. Deurne Spartans to reach the Belgian Series. They will take on defending champion Hoboken Pioneers in the best-of-five championship series, starting on Saturday.

The Pioneers are considered favorite before the start of the series. They can rely on the mound on Terence Antonacci, Kenny van den Branden and Tom Lorrentop to give them the edge over the main Spartans’ hurlers Angel Marquez, Sharlon Lebacks and Aneudy Duran Garcia.

At the plate Steven de Lannoy dominated for Hoboken during the regular season, Dennis Ribbens and Randy Giorgiadis during the final round. Additionally they have the lone Belgian minor leaguer Thomas de Wolf available since a few weeks. K. Deurne hopes to counter with Alexis Marquez, Manuel Antonio Martinez and Ayker Cardenas.

Schedule Belgian Series:
Saturday, October 2:
14:00 Hoboken Pioneers – K. Deurne Spartans
Sunday, October 3:
14:00 K. Deurne Spartans – Hoboken Pioneers
Saturday, October 9:
14:00 Hoboken Pioneers – K. Deurne Spartans
Games 4&5 if necessary TBD

Great articles you write every week! But in this one there seems to be a small mistake: Angel & Alexis Marquez and Ayker Cardenas are back in Venzuela since 2 weeks…

    Thanks for the heads up.
