Belgian Series: Hoboken Pioneers try to capture 2nd straight Title

The Hoboken Pioneers are looking to close out the Belgian Series this weekend against the K. Deurne Spartans for their second straight title in the First Division. Last weekend Terence Antonacci shut out the Spartans in a seven-inning 10-0 win in game one of the best-of-five series. Randy Giorgiadis set the highlight at the plate with a grand slam in the third. On Sunday the Pioneers won a slugfest 17-9 against K. Deurne, leading as much as 16-1 at one point in the game. Nicky Mertens hit two homeruns. Giorgiadis went deep again. Tom Lorrentop in what could have been his last start of his career was solid through seven innings before Kenny van den Branden closed it out.
