Press release from the British Baseball Federation, condensed slightly.
Today, the UK government announced the easing of the COVID-19 lockdown restrictions in phases. In a normal year, our scheduled start date for Opening Day would be in April. However, with the current lockdown, participants have not been able to practice, so our projected month to start accounting for some time to practice, the regular season (leagues and other activities) is now scheduled for sometime in May 2021 (subject to change without notice, with possible government restrictions). However, in between, participants can begin to make use of phased activities to practice while following government restrictions.
Dave Kettle, responsible for the BBF seniors leagues and scheduling, will begin to work with them to ensure we consider any conflicts (field use) which may impact our baseball league schedules. Shortly afterwards, we will communicate Opening Day and all events as they materialise.
Thank you for your patience and support during these months of lockdown. We remind the public to continue to follow the government guidelines for everyone’s safety. You should expect continued updates (safety guidelines, league, GB Baseball, etc) as more information becomes available to us from the government.
