Press release from BaseballSoftballUK.
The Kent Buccaneers Baseball Club and BaseballSoftballUK are proud to announce that the incredibly popular Battle for Britain tournament will take place on 29-31 May at Farnham Park National Baseball & Softball Complex!
The Battle for Britain was started in 2019 in Hadlow, with teams from Scotland, Ireland and, of course, Kent taking place, with the Irish Baseball League’s Mariners taking home the inaugural title. Last year, despite the COVID-19 pandemic, the Battle for Britain went forward with a modified format in September, with the Northern Knights taking the title after a fierce competition in Essex.
New for 2021, and thanks to increasing interest in the tournament, the Battle for Britain will expand from eight to twelve teams, allowing for even more players to take part. Also, for the first time ever, an eight team Youth Battle for Britain will take place simultaneously, opening the tournament to a new generation of players!
Farnham Park National Baseball & Softball Complex will host the Battle for Britain, giving the tournament a central location as well as providing more space to expand the competition. On-site parking is free at Farnham Park, and those participating in the tournament will have the option to camp on-site – to arrange camping, please contact Samuel Haslam. Home Plate Bar & Kitchen will be open during the tournament for food and refreshments, and Coach Carter’s Field Supplies will be on-site as well.
Please be aware that today’s announcement is subject to the Government’s ongoing COVID-19 rules and regulations, and BSUK will continue to engage the necessary authorities on Return to Play guidance. In case the tournament cannot go forward in May, alternate dates will be sought at Farnham Park later in the year, which will be communicated in case of postponement.
Spaces are on a first come, first serve basis, and registration is £200 per team. Teams should register here.
