Representatives of the seven European Baseball Federations, which will organize the 38th IBAF Baseball World Cup in September, will meet on February 6th in Frankfurt, Germany to talk about the tournament. At this get-together they will discuss the official list of all BWC locations. Especially for the Italian portion are a few question marks regarding their venue sites . The Italian Baseball and Softball Federation released the following statement:
“The number of venues still considered to host games of the 2009 IBAF World Cup is down to 20. Within February 6th the venues will be made official to IBAF and to the organizing committees behind the venues. Later the same week a press release will follow to all of the media.”
The 2009 Baseball World Cup with 22 teams takes place from September 9th to 27th in Europe. Preliminary round sites are in Barcelona (Spain), Prague (Czech Republic), Sundbyberg/Stockholm (Sweden), Moscow (Russia) and Regensburg (Germany). The second phase will be hosted by the Netherlands and Italy, with the final round being held solely in Italy.
