Which was pretty much expected inofficially for a few months, was made official on Thursday at a press conference in Rome, Italy. The final of the 38th IBAF Baseball World Cup will be held at the Steno Borghese ballpark in Nettuno and not in the Italian capital, as planned originally.
Former major leaguer Mike Piazza was on hand as well as FIBS president Riccardo Fraccari, the head of the organizing committee Mauro Miccio, the president of the province Rome Nicola Zingaretti and the mayor of Nettuno Alessio Chiavetta making the presentation.
It was also announced that the program of the Italian portion of the Baseball World Cup with second and final round will be released on June 8th at another press conference. A tentative schedule already can be found on the official website of the BWC. IBAF field guru Murray Cook has to give final approval of the Italian ballparks in June. 40 games in 20 Italian cities will be played in September.
