DOOR Neptunus (12-2) continued to lead the Dutch Major Leagues with a pair of victories over Mr. Cocker HCAW (6-8) last weekend.
Leon Boyd threw seven strong innings allowing one run on three hits with five strikeouts in a 7-1 win. Jeffrey Arends connected for a solo home run as Neptunus roughed up Mark Kolner for six runs in the second frame.
Neptunus won again the following day, 12-0, as Diegomar Markwell (3-1) pitched five shutout innings. Kevin Heijstek and Jan Naterop combined for three scoreless innings out of the bullpen. Evert-Jan’t Hoen and Lennart Koster homered for the league leaders.
The defending Dutch Champions, Corendon Kinheim (11-2), stayed on the heels of Neptunus with a pair of easy wins over Konica Minolta Pioniers (9-5-1).
Vince Rooi hit his third home run, a three-run shot, and Duko Jansen pitched 2.1 innings in relief giving up only one hit as Kinheim rolled to a 14-4 win . Jourick Blanco added a solo homer for the Pioniers.
Kinheim got a strong outing from Harris Vaughan (3-0) the next day and Jeffrey Verbij hit his second home run of the season in a 12-5 rout.
Sil and Sape Wagenaar both his solo homers for Sparta/Feyenoord (5-10-1) and Eddie Cropesa gave up six hits and three runs over six innings to notch the win, 4-2, against the Amsterdam Pirates (4-10) this past Saturday.
On Sunday, the Pirates rode the arm of Kenny Berkenbasch (2-3) to a 10-1 win over Sparta/Feyenoord. The righty allowed five hits and one run in 6.2 innings of work.
In other action, the Almere Magpies (6-7) swept a pair of games from MediaMonks RCH (3-9). Nick Veltkamp (2-0) pitched eight solid innings surrendering only four hits and fanning seven hitters in a 4-1 victory.
The following day, Bryan Engelhardt hit his second homer of the season and Erik Remmerswaal earned his first win of the season, 6-2, to complete the sweep.
