Defending champions, Telemarket Rimini, used a five run first inning to notch an 8-2 win over Danesi Nettuno last Thursday night. Peter Hartmann allowed seven hits and two runs in six innings to get the win and Jason Cole picked up the save with three scoreless innings. Rusty McNamara had two hits for Nettuno.
The following night, Anthony Fiore and Leonard D’ Amico combined on an eight hit shutout as Rimini stopped Nettuno, 6-0. Amary Miguel Garcia Paula went 5-for-5 with three RBIs for the league favorites. In other action last Friday, Cariparma Parma slipped past Monte Paschi Grosseto, 4-3.
Avigliana’s Matthew Marrone struck out seven batters while allowing only three hits in a complete game shutout victory over Italeri Bologna, 1-0, this past Saturday.
On Sunday, Junior Oberto surrendered only three hits and one run in seven innings to lead Monte Paschi Grosseto to a 4-1 win over Cariparma Parma. Kevin Michael Hale picked up the save with two shutout innings.
