Defending Italian Serie A Champions, Telemarket Rimini, took two out of three games from T&A San Marino to remain atop the league standings.
T&A San Marino (8-10) scored twice in the 12th inning to take the opening game, 4-2. Ivan Montane pitched three innings of scoreless relief to pick up the win while Seth La Fera, James Buccheri, Adolfo Matamoros, and Francesco Imperiali all had two hits.
Anthony Fiore silenced the bats of T&A San Marino in the second game allowing one run in seven innings in a 7-1 victory. Mario Chiarini, Luigi Carrozza, and Filippo Crociati led Telemarket Rimini (13-5) with two hits each.
Telemarket Rimini took the rubber match, 6-3, as Roberto Cabalisti picked up the win and Ilo Bartolucci got the save. Amaury Garcia went 3-for-4 and scored three runs and Carrozza was 2-for-3 with three RBI’s for the league leaders.
MPS Grosseto (12-6) stayed one game behind Telemarket Rimini by taking two out of three games from Fortitudo Bologna (10-8).
Lincoln Mikkelsen tossed a complete game seven-hit shutout as MPS Grosseto slipped past Fortitudo Bologna, 1-0, in the opening game. Jorge Nunez, Raul Marval, and Kelly Ramos each had two hits.
Fortitudo Bologna’s Matteo D’ Angelo pitched five shutout innings while allowing only three hits to lead his team to a 4-1 win in the next game. Claudio Liverziani and Daniele Frignani led the offense with two hits apiece.
MPS Grosseto took the third game of the series, 4-0, as Junior Oberto hurled eight strong innings allowing just four hits and fanning five batters. Kevin Hale pitched a perfect ninth with two strikeouts and Gizzi Ramos and Marvel each collected three hits.
Danesi Caffe Nettuno (11-7) won two out of three games against Cariparma Parma – 3-0, 3-6, and 7-4. Parma’s Laidel Chapelli went 2-for-4 with a homer in Game Two and 3-for-5 with a homer in Game Three.
In other action, Avigliani Baseball won two out of three games from De Angelis Godo – 0-4, 5-3, and 9-6. Andrew Lorraine tossed a complete game no-hitter with eight strikeouts to lead De Angelis Godo (4-14) to victory in the first game.
Avigliani Baseball (4-14) took the following two games behind the strong hitting of William Vasquez who went 3-for-5 in both games with a pair of home runs. Lorenzo Avagnina, Lucca Celeste, and Anthony Caracciolo all added homers for the winners.
