Baseball: Bulgaria Cup 2014 Under Way

By Alex Gorrin

The Bulgaria Cup is the second most important trophy on the baseball calendar and each year it brings all clubs, no matter how big and how small, under the same schedule and rules. This year, the tournament observed an increased interest compared to previous seasons, with 12 teams on schedule, divided in 3 cities and on 4 ball fields.
Teams were divided in four groups, one 7-inning game to be played amongst all group members, and the winner of each group qualifying for the semifinal match-ups.
Unfortunately, the Titans from Varna had to drop-out in the last moment, but teams like Abritus from Razgrad, the Wolves AAS from Sofia, and the Warriors from Stara Zagora made it to the ‘party’ and were able to compete with the National Championship regulars.
