Baseball Austria Weekend Preview 10

Posted on August 3, 2007April 9, 2021 by MrBB

The SUPERFUND Wanderers (15-3) have won 10 straight games to hold a slim one-game lead over the Vienna Metrostars (14-4) as the regular winds down in Austrian Baseball League action.

The Wanderers are led by ace pitcher Christian TOMSICH and outfielder George KELLNER but struggled in their last outing with two difficult wins against a lowly Stock City squad, 17-11 and 13-12.

Vienna has won three straight since falling 3-2 to the Attnang Athletics two weeks ago. Gregor KLINC has been productive with both his bat and arm this season while shortstop Lutz RAUCH and third bagger Christian UNGER are national team-caliber ballplayers.

The Dornbirn Indians (9-9) have put together a five-game winning streak to climb back into the playoff hunt. Rainhard RAUSER and Joachim FRICK are the top players for the resurging Indians.

Union Kufstein (11-7) will be looking to solidfy their playoff ranking when they meet? The Vikings are paced by Christopher BUNK and Peter NAGILLER.

The Attnang Athletics (11-9) are playing well of late due largely to the play of Lukas SCHEICHER, Walter STOSSER, Wolfgang STRINI, and catcher Andre GRUBER.
