The heralded Baseball America is currently releasing its annual team prospects rankings. While players like Alex Liddi, Greg Halman (both Seattle Mariners) and Max Kepler-Rozycki (Minnesota Twins) no longer are listed among the top ten in their respective organizations, Kai Gronauer gets another honor. They have ranked the German 24-year-old as the best defensive catcher in the New York Mets organization.
It is yet another sign how much Gronauer’s stock has added on value throughout the 2010 season. Starting the year with an invitation to Major League spring training he began the season with the Savannah Sand Gnats and was invited to the all star game in the South Atlantic League. Afterwards he got promoted to the Port St. Lucie Mets and concluded the season later with the Arizona Fall League.
