Austrian Weekly: Securing a Playoff Spot

The Athletics swept the Tigers last week and are looking forward to take a game or two from the first place Vikings. The A’s are vastly improved and geared towards the playoffs, in their last six games they managed a 5-1 record. This week they will try to keep the momentum going and could make a step towards improving in the standings if they can beat the first place Kufstein Vikings.

The Tigers are currently on a three-game losing-streak and the outlook is not very bright as they have to start the first game against the Stock City Cubs down 7-0 in the eighth Inning. This game was cancelled due to darkness earlier this season and League rules determine that the contest shall be continued at the point the game was suspended. The Cubs lost two games last week but kept it very close against a good Vikings team, maybe this will give them a boost as they are trying to stay out of the relegation rounds. However the Dornbirn Indians who are a game and half ahead of the Cubs in the standings are playing the Linz Bandits, the last place team that has been struggling to get motivated recently.

With less than ten games left on the schedule every win is crucial and whoever has the best team together for the last two months could make a run at a place in the playoffs.
