Austrian Weekly: Playoffs are set. Maybe!

Not much should change in the standings from this point on. But controversy surrounds the Austrian Baseball League. The last-place team Linz Bandits has violated numerous league rules during the past few weeks and there is speculation that it may be necessary to kick them out of the league.

The violations were quite severe. Among other things the team failed to show up to a home game on time and had to take a technical K.O.

While the league rules do not express that the team is prohibited from staying in the league after multiple violations, the option is available for the league’s commissioner to use. In regard to the situation a fine might be enough, the Bandits only have two games left on their schedule. However, if they should be expelled the Metrostars would be back in the playoff hunt! Their two losses against the Bandits would be nullified and this would give them the same amount of losses as the Tigers.

Unless this happens, the playoff teams are: Attnang Athletics, Kufstein Vikings, Vienna Wanderers, and Schwaz Tigers, currently in that order.
