The Vienna Wanderers have won game one of the Austrian Baseball League Finals. On Friday evening they edged out the Vienna Metrostars 4-3 in a nail-biter. A RBI single by Benjamin Husty and a hit by pitch with the bases loaded broke a 2-2 tie and gave the Wanderers the decisive 4-2 lead in the bottom of the fourth. The Metrostars cut the deficit to a run in the top of the seventh on a sac fly by Dominik Loeffler. However they weren’t able to tag on another run afterwards.

Joe Wilson had driven in the first two runs for the Wanderers with a single and a double in the first and the third. But the Metrostars each time were able to tie the contest with runs in the second and the fourth. Christian Tomsich earned the win with a complete game performance, striking out nine. Jakob Simonsen took the loss, conceding nine hits, four runs (3 ER) and a walk in eight frames.
