Posted on March 15, 2008March 15, 2008 by philipp

The Mannheim Tornados signed the 28-year-old Australian Craig PYCOCK for the upcoming season. He last played for the Saarlouis Hornets. He is supposed to strengthen the pitching staff but is also capable to play the infield corners. He began his career in New South Wales in his home country.

In 2007 he had a .233 batting average (OBP .333/SLG .372) with three homeruns, ten runs scored and 18 RBI in 28 games. He only appeared in three games on the mound (ERA 8.10, 3.1 IP, 3 SO). He also was a member of the British team at the European Championships in Barcelona. Though he only got limited playing time. He debuted last weekend against the Mainz Athletics in an exhibition game.

Mannheim opens the season on April 6th against the reigning German champion Athletics. They have high hopes for this year as they made several interesting acquisitions. They signed the best pitcher of the southern conference Eddie AUCOIN and added utility man Chris FALLS.
