The Atlanta Braves have signed Dutch shortstop Andrelton Simmons to a seven-year contract worth $58 million and runs through the end of the 2020 season. The 24-year-old made his debut in 2012 and since then became one of the best players on his position. According to certain defensive statistics he was the best defensive shortstop in Major League Baseball last year. With the Netherlands he had reached the semi-final of the 2013 World Baseball Classic. The Braves, which are moving to a different stadium in 2017, have locked up Freddie Freeman, Craig Kimbrel and Julio Teheran long-term in the past two weeks.
