Athletics stay at the top of the Austrian Baseball League Standings

Posted on May 4, 2008May 4, 2008 by philipp

The MOSQUITO ATHLETICS stay undefeated and at the top of the standings of the Austrian Baseball League. They won both games on the road against the CUBS this weekend and are now 6-0. In the first match two national team pitchers faced each other with Walter Strasser outdueling Harry Kainz.

The VIKINGS are right behind ATTNANG-PUCHHEIM. They beat the TIGERS 6-1 behind a strong pitching performance by Werner Harrasser in the first part of the doubleheader. The second victory was a nail biter, because Todd Fairbrother and Jose Castillo were locked into a pitcher’s duel. However UNION KUFSTEIN prevailed for a 4-3 victory. We have them at 7-1 in our standings. But they could be 6-0, as there is a protest looming from their split against the BANDITS in April.

The INDIANS finally accomplished their first win of the season. Luke Krahe and Luke Suters led them to a 7-2 win versus last year’s champion VIENNA METROSTARS. They had won game one of the twin bill by a score of 11-1.

The SUPERFUND WANDERERS got back on track with two lopsided victories in Linz. They scored 31 runs in the doubleheader.
