Posted on February 8, 2011February 8, 2011 by philipp

The Astros Valencia have added the 22-year-old utility man Franklin Tavarez to the 2011 roster. The MVP of the 2008 U21 European Championship in Pamplona is coming from the Tenerife Marlins Puerto Cruz. In 2009 he had played for the Halcones de Vigo. Last year he batted .348 (OBP .437/SLG .573) with four homeruns, eight doubles, 27 runs and 20 RBI in 22 games. The Astros start into the new season in the Spanish Division de Honor on February 27 with a doubleheader against the FC Barcelona. They finished in sixth place in 2010.
