Astl leads Tigers with 19 K’s to Sweep against Bandits in ABL

Austrian national team pitcher Paul Astl struck out 19 batters in his win against the BANDITS on Saturday. Franz Haisjackl stayed perfect until the sixth in the second part of the doubleheader, when the TIGERS completed the sweep with a 13-1 pounding. They moved into second place of the standings with seven victories in ten games.

In the second match-up on Saturday, the KUFSTEIN VIKINGS won both games on the road against the reigning Austrian champion METROSTARS. The two starters Werner Harrasser and Todd Fairbrother dominated in both games. Fairbrother also hit his second homerun of the season in the second match.

The other team from Vienna, the SUPERFUND WANDERERS overcame a 4-8 deficit in the ninth to win 11-8 against the MOSQUITO ATHLETICS in the first part of their doubleheader. They hold on to the momentum in the second match and crushed ATTNANG-PUCHHEIM 16-5 for the sweep.

In the last duel, the DORNBIRN INDIANS and the STOCK CITY CUBS each won a game. The home team scored eight runs in the sixth in 11-9 victory in game one. In the second BJ Veronee got hit hard and the CUBS, led by Matthias Koppensteiner won 14-4.
