Asia Series 2013: Samsung Lions beat Uni-President Lions in 10th

In a matchup between the champions from the Chinese Professional Baseball League (CPBL) and the Korea Baseball Organisation (KBO) at the Asia Series 2013 in Taiwan the Samsung Lions claimed a 5-4 victory over the Uni-President Lions thanks to a RBI single by pinch hitter D.G. Woo in the tenth. The team from Daegu, Korea had blown a 4-2 lead in the eighth, but Uni-President wasn’t able to counter a second time.

The Samsung Lions now will square off with the Canberra Cavalry in the first semi-final on Monday. The Uni-President Lions have drawn NPB champion Tohoku Rakuten Golden Eagles in the second semi-final on Tuesday.

H.S. Jung had two RBI for Samsung. S.M. Park scored twice. W.H. Pan drove in two for the CPBL champion. Y.C. Chen had three hits, a run and a RBI in front of more than 18,000 in Taoyuan. J.M. An received the win in relief. Former Major Leaguer Boof Bonser got charged with the loss.
