It’s been awhile since our last update from the Arizona Fall League. German outfielder/first baseman Max Kepler appeared in four games this past week, going 2-for-14 with a walk, a double, a run, a RBI and three strikeouts. He is now batting .229/.283/.313 with four doubles, seven runs and four RBI in 13 games for the Glendale Desert Dogs.
Dutch infielder Jonathan Schoop has been 2-for-10 with three runs, a RBI, two walks and two strikeouts in three games. Overall he is .149/.245/.277 with two home runs, nine runs and five RBI in 12 games for the Surprise Saguaros.
Germany’s Aaron Altherr didn’t pick up a hit in 11 at-bats with three strikeouts through three games recently. The center fielder is batting .136/.208/.182 with a double and two RBI in six games for the Peoria Javelinas overall.
South Africa’s infielder Gift Ngoepe has one hit in 10 at-bats in his last three games. He also walked once and struck out five times. In total the 23-year-old switch hitter is batting .094/.194/.125 with four walks, a double, four runs and two stolen bases in 10 games for the Scottsdale Scorpions.
Left-hander Michael Roth of the Great Britain squad started twice in the past week. He issued eight hits, three runs and three walks in 8 1/3 innings, striking out three. Overall he is 1-0 with an ERA of 3.71 in five starts. He struck out nine and walked nine in 17 innings for the Mesa Solar Sox.
Czech Republic’s Alex Sogard appeared in two games since October 25. Coming in relief he allowed just two hits in three scoreless innings, while striking out three. He is now 2-1 with an ERA of 1.74 in seven games (one start) for the Peoria Javelinas. He has struck out seven and walked five in 10 1/3 innings.
The first half of the Arizona Fall League got concluded with the Fall Stars Game (formerly Rising Stars Game) on Saturday. None of the above mentioned players got invited to participate. The West downed the East 9-2 thanks to a strong pitching performance by Alex Meyer and two-homer games by Brett Nicholas and Stefen Romero.
