Aaron Altherr, who played for Germany in the WBC Qualifier last year, is seeing an increase in playing time recently. The outfielder went 2-for-6 with a run in his last two games for the Peoria Javelinas. Overall he is batting .200/.273/.275 in 11 games.
South Africa’s Gift Ngoepe is still looking to find his stroke. He was 0-for-3 in his last two games. The infielder from the Pittsburgh Pirates is batting .068/.176/.091 in 15 games for the Scottsdale Scorpions.
Left-hander Alex Sogard, a WBC Qualifier participant for the Czech Republic, had another scoreless outing for the Peoria Javelinas. He struck out one in a perfect inning of relief. He dropped his ERA to 1.46 in nine games. He has struck out 10 in 12 1/3 innings, while walking five.
